The 605 GPS uses its built-in media features to its advantage by broadcasting directions through its line-out jack and letting users play the device’s normal mix of music and video when navigation isn’t necessary. Archos intends to ship its GPS solution worldwide and will pre-supply the North American model with maps both for its own continent as well as China and Europe.

A 30GB version of the Mac- and Windows-compatible 605 Wi-Fi will come with the GPS receiver in May for $400; owners of existing versions or those who want to choose their storage will have the option of buying the navigation component separately for $130.
